"Dinner with a lady:"

Got a suit from a friend
Cause I had a dinner to attend
Two hours in front of a mirror
Still something was not proper.

Thus I was ready to go
But forgot the tie and bow
God! How nervous I was
And there was not time to pause.

Finally I was on my way
Excited, happy and gay
Stopped to buy a gift
For my darling “Chris”.

Reached to the place
Found I was an hour late
She was wearing a gown
Feeling angry and looking down.

I went where she was seated
Said sorry and pleaded
She was so angry
Even the gift didn’t make her happy.

She stood up with fury
And I repeated I was sorry
Tried to stop her from going
And realized everyone staring.

Threw my gift in the air
I know that was not fare
She was finally gone
Thus, dinner with the lady was done!
