Kamala Sarup's story collection "Samjhuta Ko Modma"
Literatteur cum journalist Kamala Sarup's story collection Samjhuta Ko Modma has explained the hatred among the people and it has created a sense of fear on the relations and the activities between human beings. Most of her stories and poems deal with real life problems, they have been written with the intensity to please the intellect. Her story has enliven the love and hate relationship. Her other stories in the book deal with the spread of nationalism, society, love and emotion. The stories in her book examine the increasing love and abuse of life. They focus on the manner in which people have used love to manage the individual, social and environmental aspects of life. The theme of love is explored in a philosophical and spiritual vein.
In her short stories has depicted the life of different classes of people. In this respect several of Kamala's stories draws attention to the very simple things of life, joys and sorrow, which are important for the life of common people. Her story in Laghutavash, she describes an unemployed man who gets depressed of getting a job. In another story Asurachit Odhar, she explain the life of a poor woman whose mother was a prostitute. The story exposes the prevailing conditions of Nepalese society. In the next story "Shanti di" Kamala has attempted to expose the inner contradiction of contemporary society. She gently mocks the petit
bourgeois narrator for drifting through life.
Kamala Sarup, Ph.D student in the US is one of the most talented journalists cum story writer of Nepal. Her stories are mostly about love, human relationship sex and spiritual philosophy. Most of her stories are in Samjhuta Ko Modma have
been published in Garima, Madhuparka, Gorkhapatra, Swamsebak, Arohar,Taneri, Sangrila, Mukut, Astha, Tri-Ratna, Mirmire, Bandana. A book of stories ,Samjhuta Ko Modma was published in 1995.
