Maha Kabi: Laxmi Prasad Devkota
King of Nepali Literature Late poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota was born on November 12, 1909 at Dhobidhara Katmandu. He was born on the night of Laxmi puja, Godess of wealth and prosperity. He started showing literary genius at the age of ten when he started writing poem. He was a great poet, Novelist, essayist and a play write. He was a man of great heart; people still recalled how he used to give out all his salary money to beggar and poor people on the street. for that reason, his family member thought that was insane and took him Mental hospital. He wrote a great poem called Pagal (crazy). During his lifetime he had contributed countless literary work many of them were simply disappeared without published. To Name the few, Muna Madan, Sakuntala, sulochana, Nibanda sangra etc. Despite of his vast knowledge and wisdom he had to live his life in near destitute. Yet he had relentlessly contributed much his time and energy to uplift the quality of Nepali literature. On Sept. 14, 1959, the great soul left his body to transcendent into Nirvana.
